This forum will give business owners some key factors that Google and other search engines use to rank web sites:
One factor that affects a sites ranking is the number of links coming to your site. You can check the number of sites linking to your sites by typing into the Google search bar links:
www.seob2b.org (replace seobb2b.org with your site, for example links:
www.hockinghillsservices).
Google uses software called bots to scan sites. For example when a bot scans the SEOB2B site and sees the number of businesses in the site it will influence their ranking over time. It will also follow the link off the B2B to your website. It would also be wise to link back to the SEOB2B as the bot over time will see it as a business directory and it establishes a two way link.
TIP Start a link campaign and trade links with other businesses in the area. It will benefit both businesses (win-win). Be careful when hiring outside companies offering link campaigns to improve your rankings. Many of them run what is called server link farms. They set up servers with nothing but links on them and place your link on all their servers. Your ranking will increase but if Google finds the link farm they will ban your site. Google only recognizes links from other legitimate sites.
