I almost didn't make it to last night's meeting; I was running late, I don't like driving after dark, it was cold... all my usual excuses. Then I remembered that one of my recurring whines is that meetings, classes, etc tend to be during the day, when I can't make them, so to justify my continuing to whine, I had to go. I'm glad I did. 2 hours simply wasn't long enough to get to all the info, but we did manage to cover a lot. It was nice putting faces and voices to internet images.
One thing I'd like to mention to help get your name out there- Youtube videos. You don't need a fancy camcorder or a professional videogragher. Most digital cameras, and even cell phones, are capable of recording video. Just create a free Youtube account, upload your video, give it a title (remember key words!), and voila! Then post a link on your web page, and email everyone in your adress book to look at it. I highlighted some of my products and services in short, 1-2 minute clips, and while nothing's gone viral yet, I think 472 views are respectable. I put one of them on the B2B site, if anyone wants to see the others, go to www.youtube.com/burroakoutfitters. (How do you like the shameless self promotion?) My daughter, who is totally my right hand man in the business, and I had an idea for another video, but it won't work if it snows tonight, so we may have to put it on hold. Sometimes you have to browbeat your family and friends to help out with the videos, but once they recover it's worth it.
